Thank you for your interest in our Community Doula Program. Birth is a powerful and transformative experience. It can lay the foundation for a smoother and more confident transition to parenthood. Yet many women feel let down by their birth experience. Fueled by the belief that every person deserves a positive and empowering birth, the Keys Community Doula Program was created. We are grateful you are here taking the first steps to becoming a powerful force for positive change, helping families create the birth they desire.

What is a doula?
Doulas are non-clinical professionals who provide continuous, compassionate, emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy and childbirth. They do not provide medical care or deliver babies.
Their role is to:

Offer companionship and advocacy throughout the pregnancy, labor, and early postpartum period.

Provide evidence-based information about birth options and help to make informed decisions.

Offer comfort measures like massage and breathing techniques for coping with labor discomfort.

Help create a calm and positive birthing environment.

Studies show that increased access to doula care, especially in under-resourced communities, can improve a range of health outcomes for mothers and babies:

Our training model:

Comprehensive online training: We utilize CAPPA’s (Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association) accredited Certified Labor Doula (CLD) course, providing you with a solid foundation in birth support.

Financial support: FKHSC will cover the cost of your CAPPA CLD training and required insurance, removing financial barriers and ensuring accessibility.

Mentorship: Gain valuable guidance and support from experienced doulas in the program, in addition to monthly educational and informational meetings to stay engaged throughout your training and service.
