LOCAL COVID-19 UPDATE
After taking into account the guidance of public health and governmental officials regarding COVID-19, the Board of Directors of the Florida Keys Healthy Start Coalition has made the decision to suspend our Nurture Your Newborn, Wiggles and Giggles and Tot Time programs as well as all field trips until further notice. The health and safety of our community is at the core of who we are as a Coalition. While we will miss seeing the smiling faces of families who join us for groups each week, we all have an opportunity during this ‘time out’ to commit ourselves to the hygiene and social practices that will help us manage this unexpected challenge in our community.
We will be posting again soon with new opportunities we will be offering while we are all navigating this 'time out.'
Please know that although we will not be holding groups, our team is always available by phone to provide information, support and guidance your family may need. Please call 305-294-8424, email email@example.com or message us through our social media accounts to reach any Coalition representative or to request assistance.
Monroe WIC Offering Assistance to Families in Monroe County
The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County’s WIC (Special Supplemental Food Program for Women Infants and Children) offers food/nutrition/breastfeeding assistance to low income pregnant women or families with infants or children under the age of 5 years who reside in Monroe County. Those individuals/families who meet this criteria and are experiencing a loss of income due to the COVID-19 crisis are encouraged to sign up for WIC to help with food costs. Families that meet this criteria and are currently receiving unemployment or Medicaid benefits automatically qualify financially for WIC benefits. Others will need to provide proof of income and/or explain income loss to qualify.
